Ukulele Festival 2016

On this edition of Last-Minute News...

As is my awful habit (that will be broken...soon...ish...maybe), I am posting this the night before my upcoming craft fair.

To be fair, no one is going to see this, at least until I hand out business cards tomorrow, so that's alright.

So tomorrow, Sunday, October 9, 12-4

Muckenthaler Cultural Center
1201 W. Malvern Ave.
Fullerton, CA 91833

Please come! (Or rather, if you're seeing this, it's likely that you came and got a business card, so...um...thanks for coming! And thanks for checking out my ramble-y blog!)

So, on to what's new...

Well, there's the Summer Solstice Festival at the Muckenthaler in June that I didn't go to. I decided at the last minute that I was much too busy with school (I'm in a fashion design/merchandising program, by the way) to deal with what amounts to an all-day thing, plus the day before to prepare. I was very stressed with my summer class, which was a sort of capstone design course, where we had to design and make a collection in six weeks. But overall, I am pleased with the result. No pictures, sorry. I'm a terribly horrible photographer.

Maybe I should take photography classes one of these days. That would be helpful, wouldn't it? I mean, I would probably stop posting pictures here of my new items for sale from my phone.

Speaking of pictures of my new crafts taken on my phone, here's a few:

Blender earrings...made out of parts from a blender that I broke, then promptly dissected for jewelry parts.

Faux wood paper bowl made out of scrap paper (I teach origami in the summers, so I get a lot of paper strips left over from when I cut 8.5"x11" paper into squares)

Paper bowls made out of book paper. I only demolish books that I think are awful.

Going through my pictures folder reminded me, though, that I do have some pictures of other clothes that I have designed and made. So here:

Recycled Outfit Project: fabric from an old sheet, lacy "collar" made out of ironed Styrofoam fruit sleeves, and black "buttons" made out of painted K-cup filters

Skirt that goes with the top from the above picture

Cocktail dress and evening dress. Cocktail dress has a strappy criss-crossy back. Evening dress has a slit going up the left leg.

And here's a lovely picture of my gorgeous model wearing a lace mask that I made out of tulle and puffy paint:
Her eyes! I sometimes wish that I had blue eyes and blonde hair. And then I remind myself that they would look ridiculous on Asian me.

And that's it. That's what I've been up to this year.
