Ukulele Festival 2016

On this edition of Last-Minute News...

As is my awful habit (that will be broken...soon...ish...maybe), I am posting this the night before my upcoming craft fair.

To be fair, no one is going to see this, at least until I hand out business cards tomorrow, so that's alright.

So tomorrow, Sunday, October 9, 12-4

Muckenthaler Cultural Center
1201 W. Malvern Ave.
Fullerton, CA 91833
http://themuck.org/programing/2016/10/9/ukulele-festival

Please come! (Or rather, if you're seeing this, it's likely that you came and got a business card, so...um...thanks for coming! And thanks for checking out my ramble-y blog!)

So, on to what's new...

Well, there's the Summer Solstice Festival at the Muckenthaler in June that I didn't go to. I decided at the last minute that I was much too busy with school (I'm in a fashion design/merchandising program, by the way) to deal with what amounts to an all-day thing, plus the day before to prepare. I was very stressed with my summer class, which was a sort of capstone design course, where we had to design and make a collection in six weeks. But overall, I am pleased with the result. No pictures, sorry. I'm a terribly horrible photographer.

Maybe I should take photography classes one of these days. That would be helpful, wouldn't it? I mean, I would probably stop posting pictures here of my new items for sale from my phone.

Speaking of pictures of my new crafts taken on my phone, here's a few:

Blender earrings...made out of parts from a blender that I broke, then promptly dissected for jewelry parts.

Faux wood paper bowl made out of scrap paper (I teach origami in the summers, so I get a lot of paper strips left over from when I cut 8.5"x11" paper into squares)

Paper bowls made out of book paper. I only demolish books that I think are awful.

Going through my pictures folder reminded me, though, that I do have some pictures of other clothes that I have designed and made. So here:

Recycled Outfit Project: fabric from an old sheet, lacy "collar" made out of ironed Styrofoam fruit sleeves, and black "buttons" made out of painted K-cup filters

Skirt that goes with the top from the above picture

Cocktail dress and evening dress. Cocktail dress has a strappy criss-crossy back. Evening dress has a slit going up the left leg.

And here's a lovely picture of my gorgeous model wearing a lace mask that I made out of tulle and puffy paint:
Her eyes! I sometimes wish that I had blue eyes and blonde hair. And then I remind myself that they would look ridiculous on Asian me.

And that's it. That's what I've been up to this year.

Winter Solstice Festival at the Muck on Sunday!

Oh, no! It's raining! And I have a craft fair tomorrow! *panic*

Here's hoping that it's a nice day out tomorrow. Otherwise...well, paper jewelry + rain = disaster, ha!

Anyway.

This post is to inform my practically nonexistent readers *snarkety-snark* that I will be at the Muckenthaler Cultural Center for the Winter Solstice Festival tomorrow, from 12-4, rain or shine. At least, that's the plan. If it's really thundering and pouring and all that, I'm not so sure since they might cancel the event. I'll post an update if I'm not, pinky swear.

This is the address:
1201 W Malvern Ave
Fullerton, CA 92833

I'm told that there will be other entertainment, such as...Santa!! So if you have something to say to the Big Red Dude, then you might want to show up. *grin* There will also be music, as always.

Anyway, as far as new stuff goes, again, I have failed to take proper pictures.

But here's a picture from my phone of some new friendship bracelets. They're great because you don't have to tie them on because they have actual clasps - they look grown-up and chic, but also a bit bohemian at the same time. The one on the left in the picture isn't done yet...But it will be by tomorrow!

See you there! (???) (please don't rain on me...)

Threads of Insanity will be at the Ukulele Festival at the Muckenthaler Cultural Center on 9/20!

I tend to neglect my blog in favor of making things. Mea culpa.

However, this time around I remembered to post in time for my next craft fair, which will take place on 9/20/2015 from 12-4 at the Muckenthaler Cultural Center's Ukulele Festival - 50th Anniversary Celebration.

This is the address:
1201 W Malvern Ave
Fullerton, CA 92833

Here is so me information about the Ukulele Festival from the Muck's site:
"In the 1960s, ukes were all the rage. Join us as we bring ukes back for this hootenanny happening! Featuring Janet Klein & Her Parlor Boys, Ian Whitcomb, Loa Greyson (Tini Grey from Season 7 of The Voice), 80bug and more!
While you tap your feet to some amazing tunes, stroll through an arts & crafts fair, enjoy craft beer from Fullerton’s Bootlegger’s Brewery, and play some bocce ball on our lawns!"

These are some of my new items:

(Sorry about the poor editing job. I uploaded these from my phone. *Bad ThreadsofInsanity*).

The first ones are earrings made out of canned food tabs (which are bigger than soda can tops) and made "trendy" by adding gold along the top.
The second are actually the little filters you find in K-cups (Keurig cups for coffee and tea), which I took out, cleaned, and painted gold. I think they look kind of cool, and from what I've seen online, no one has done this with these before.

I also have a new series of jewelry made out of beautiful broken ceramic pieces given to me by Rowan Harrison (http://www.twotribespottery.blogspot.com/). Thanks, Rowan!

Anyway, that is what I have been up to.

See y'all on Sunday!

Threads of Insanity at Summer Solstice Festival at the Muck!

Hello!

Thank you for coming to see my "blog."
"Blog" is in quotation marks because I really only ever update it now when I'm going to be at a craft fair. :P

But anyway, hi *waves* Still alive.

Above is one of my new items (I have quite a few new items, actually, but I haven't been on top of taking pictures, sorry! This one was taken on my phone...today).

These are postage stamp packaging tape roll bracelets (whew, what a mouthful) Yes, that's Pikachu and Hello Kitty on the one in front. Doraimon is on the other side of the bracelet. I call that one my anime bracelet. These bracelets are made out of postage stamps decoupaged onto empty packaging tape rolls that have been remolded to fit normal-sized wrists.

I will be selling these and a whole bunch of new items, as well as my usual staples (button jewelry, junk paper butterfly jewelry) at the Muckenthaler Cultural Center's Summer Solstice Festival tomorrow (6/22) from 12-4.

There will be lots of awesome musical and dance performances (free!) as well!

Come and see us at the Muck!

Koi Krafters in Alhambra

Tomorrow (11/23), I'll be at the Koi Krafters Fair in Alhambra from 10-3. It's my first non-Muckenthaler event, so I'm a bit nervous. But maybe I'll make some new friends, huh?

Anyway, hope to see you there!

700 S. Almansor St.
Alhambra, CA 91801

Now, on to other business:

It's getting chillier now in California so I'm branching out to scarves and other knitted and crocheted items on my Etsy (ThreadsofInsanity). These items are not upcycled, recycled, or organic unless noted, but they are in my shop because they help represent the range of my creative interests (i.e. not only shiny things).

New Items up on Etsy...(because that's all I ever post about isn't it?): Butterflies

Look here! More pictures!

I have been remiss in writing my (at least) weekly post since I made that promise to myself. My bad. So maybe I'll do two this week to even things out. Yeah? 'Kay.

The Muck and More Rambling about Etsy

Hello, my lovely stalkers! Welcome!

*Snark because most of my page counts come from my lovely family and friends who have been bullied begged into reading my blog. Thanks, Mom! Here's an emoticon heart: <3

New Items on Etsy and Reminder

I have added three new items on my Etsy shop (ThreadsofInsanity).

The photograph below features my paper clip earrings. I love the shape of these paper clips - they're not the most common type of clip, which is fun. These have little inverted hearts in them!

You can buy these paper clip earrings here at my shop ThreadsofInsanity:

ThreadsofInsanity Etsy Shop Now Open!

Hello!

I'm posting to let everyone (i.e. the world, my family, and the like, five other people who visit my blog) know that I have opened my new shop at Etsy under the easy-to-remember name of ThreadsofInsanity (that's "Threads of Insanity" all in one word because Etsy is weird and doesn't allow spaces in shop names for some weird reason).

Here is the link to ThreadsofInsanity:
